This page gave me many troubles. XD So I resorted to Google Sketchup for Ernie’s bike, and big thanks to my sister, Komori, for doing the patterns in the stained glass windows.

Aww, what a downer on Christmas Eve, even! XD Hope you guys are enjoying the holidays, havin’ a better time than poor ol Aliberti is!
Ronnie always goes over the top, eh? Anyway, yeah the fire chief kinda shows up a bit late >.> I needed a segway into the scene though XD Way to go, chief.
Anyway, don’t forget to vote today at TWC to see the latest addition of the “12 Days of Christmas,” Pompfiction style!
>.> Uh oh…
Yeah I totally pulled a Lilo & Stitch XD Backgrounds were a killer on this one. I won’t lie, I used a lot of reference. I actually Google mapped the end of my street for the intersection there, to get the right angle, and used Abercorn St, Savannah GA for the first set of panels up there. Haha, the restaurant there was referenced from a Checkers. I chose Abercorn cuz I frequented that road during my stay at SCAD n.n So there ya have it. Little Easter Egg for ya.
Okay I won’t lie. This is the longest I’ve ever spent on a page. Cuz man, let me tell you, I LOVE architecture like Cookie love fried chicken. I wanted to make sure I had a fitting style of home for the Alibertis so I did a bit of research and settled on Neo-Mediterranean. I spent a good hour just being entranced by some awesome architectural examples only to wind up with this pseudo Rocko’s Modern Life lookin’ house here XD But whatev, it works, ja? The buildings, especially rooftops and surrounding foliage reminded me of my time spent in Provence (where I actually began Pompfiction, wouldn’tcha know). So that was kinda fun to work with, though I killed the city skyline in the last panel. It looks more like my Google Analytics bar graph XDDD
Color palette is also not my friend. I’m generally a blue-violet, dark, unsaturated color palette type person, so I struggled to get a good bright, crisp morning atmosphere. I think in the end it worked, but definitely not as successful as my night pieces.
And hey, whaddya know, I finally solidified Ernie’s oh-so-elusive mom. Yeah she exists, but you don’t see much of her cuz she’s boring >.> I believe she’s in the Thanksgiving piece from last year.
Okay, now I ain’t gonna lie here neither, but uh… I generally suck at backgrounds and props, but if I learned ANYthing from my Sequential Arts days in SCAD, it’s that photo reference is your friend. I couldn’t come up with those
windows or roofing on my own, certainly not the clock XD
Twas a combination of two other Coca-Cola alarm clocks I found whilst browsin. I spent a good 30 minutes on that daggon thing, so appreciate it! XD I originally sketched out a lamer rectangle one, but figured I could show off more of Ernie’s personality just by showing you what he keeps on his nightstand. Use every chance you get to build character. Every prop, and color scheme, can say a lot about a character n.n I could get into why his room is red, so as to emphasize the tension and passion that goes on in that room where he hides out from his father, does all his nightly dastardly forbidden deeds and many guilt-laden remorseful mornings after, buuuut– maybe another time.
Oh and lastly… If photo reference is your friend, Google Sketchup is like your dirty little mistress with whom you cheat. >.> *cough* that bike was a product of our love.
All aboard the guilt train! Bet you feel thiiiiiiiiis small, Ernie…
Happy Thanksgiving guys! Hope you had a good one.
Daww father and son bonding moment… sort of XD Ernie believes his dad has more in him than Al even likes to believe….
*awkward social tension*

Sorry for the crazy downtime earlier, folks. After a database snafu, Pompfiction’s up and runnin’ again! It’ll be smooth sailin’ from here. Don’t forget! Only 5 more days left on the Halloween Dress Up contest!
