I have plans to publish a printed copy of the first two chapters, a total of 40 full color pages! As well as some in progress work, concept art, character sketches, fanart and more, so do keep an eye out for that. I hope to be able to devote my time fully to Pompfiction, and so I hope you’ll enjoy the next upcoming installment as I’ve put a lot of work into it this past semester at SCAD. Galileo seems to have Jaybird on the mind a lot… You might even call him BIRD-brained ha ha haaaa…. Okay, this is hardly an appropriate time for a bad pun. Anyway hope you enjoy this page as much as I enjoyed doing it. Many nights without sleep due to finals, and then to top off the day before graduation rehearsal with this page, it was a real challenge. Though I rather like the turnout, and I like to think I’ve been getting better with the lettering. Maybe not. Ah, oh well, at least we finally get to see the origin of the ring Leo’s always wearin’ around on a chain… kinda pathetic. Anyway, things are are finally winding down for Leo… or are they?

The epic finishing move. I had trouble with this page a looot. I was really going for a lighting that would emphasize Leo’s transition into Johnny-level awesomeness by implying jaybird wings with the blue cast shadows streaming off his arms in the spotlight. Success? Meh. It still makes for some fun lighting experimentation.

SCAD CON!
Today I’ll be selling mini comics of Pompfiction at the Savannah College of Art and Design’s own convention, SCAD-Con! I’ll be sharing a booth with Kotora, and we’ll be pimpin’ our 50′s greaser wares including pins, printed strips, printed books, super minis, stickers, and more! I’ll be testing the waters of what it’s like to set up shop at a convention as practice for next year’s appearances! That’s right, I plan on hittin’ up as much as I can here on the East Coast, and pimpin’ Pompfiction, and sharin’ the greasy love.

If there’s enough interest, I may publish printed volumes of Pompfiction through lulu, as well as pins. Would anyone be interested in something like that? If so, about how much would you pay for 30+ colored pages, 30+ strips, art, fiction and fanart all in one big book? Or would you prefer smaller volumes, more affordable digests? Let’s get some feedback!

Some behind the scenes, that you may or may not know. A lot of work goes into a page of comics! I spent probably too long over the phrasing in panel 5, as well as probably too long searching for the perfect song to go with the characters and the scene. XD It had to be 50s, but somehow modernized because of Carmine and her gang. It had to be sung by a woman and edgy. I found Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin On” and was like POIFECT! Then as I watched a clip of the great Jerry Lee, I realized that the piano played as important a singer as the singer himself! So I had to find the piece without a piano… boy. that was hard. XD Anyway. Lyrics? Appropriate. For a chicken… to be singing. Coup, barn? Can I get an Amen? I dunno. XD Hope yall enjoy this little installment! More to come!
